Product Info for LE WILSON Brass Case Gage CGB

The L.E. Wilson Brass Case Gage is precision machined from U.S. solid brass bar stock. This brass version is an upgrade to L.E. Wilson's standard steel line, offering excellent corrosion resistance and a smooth surface finish ideal for consistent case measurement.

This one-piece gage checks critical case dimensions including overall case length and datum-to-head length. These measurements indicate when trimming is required and help ensure correct headspace while preventing over-sizing during the reloading process.

Originally designed with safety in mind, the Cartridge Case Gage was invented by the founder, Sam (L.E.) Wilson, in 1935 after assisting a fellow shooter with a case-separation issue. The design allows reloaders to clearly see how much the shoulder is being set back during resizing.

How to Use the Brass Case Gage:
Measure a case in its as-fired condition and note the headspace measurement
Resize the case using your current die setting
Place the resized case back into the gage to observe shoulder setback
For precise measurement, use the Case Gage Depth Micrometer
Adjust your sizing die as needed to achieve the desired shoulder setback
After resizing, brass often lengthens. The Brass Case Gage also checks minimum and maximum case length, helping identify when trimming is required

Note: This gage does not measure body diameters. It is intended for use with fired cases to establish a reliable baseline for full-length sizing and trimming.
