Product Info for SIG SAUER Alpha MSR 30mm Black Scope Mount SOA20014

If your rifle builds include an optic, then you know that mounting your scope properly is critical to consistent accuracy. A scope mount seems like a simple thing, but not all mounts are created equally. SIG’s Alpha MSR Scope Mount offers professional-grade quality and precision at a surprisingly affordable price.

The Problem with Cheap Scope Mounts

When people purchase a new optic, they spend the majority of their budget on the glass. Then, when mounting that optic, they’ll grab something off Amazon for cheap.

Think about that for a second. You spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a precision tool to improve your accuracy, but you trust your zero to some generic Chinese mount probably filled with lead during production.

Why should your precision tool be mounted to a sub-par precision platform?

Investing in quality scope mounts will save you money and headaches in the long run.

Better materials = stronger mount = less maintenance = longer lifespan = save money.

The SIG SAUER Alpha MSR 30mm Scope Mount is made in the USA from professional-grade materials.

Features

Zero Stability – Made properly, your scope mount will firmly hold your zero regardless of temperature change, recoil impulse, shooting from a bipod/rest, etc. Cheap mounts shift as your gun heats up during extended shooting sessions or between temperature changes.

Repeatability – If you’re dialing in turret adjustments for distance, you’ll need to ensure your scope is perfectly aligned every time you install/remove it. Quality mounts allow you to repeat those adjustments exactly.

Durability – Rubber, polymer, or simply thin metal mounts will flex, compress, or loosen over time. You don’t want to constantly monitor your mount during use, you want it to hold.

Optic Protection – Rings that move around or torque down on uneven surfaces can damage your scope. A rigid mount keeps your optic safe from damage that can occur when small amounts of flex occur in the mount.

Steel Alloy Rings – Made of a proprietary steel alloy specifically engineered for use in the Alpha MSR. SIG uses a machining process that gently forms the ring into the shape of your scope without damaging the tube.

70/75-T6 Aluminum Body – High-grade aluminum saves weight without sacrificing strength. This Aluminum also has a corrosion-resistant black finish.

30mm Tube Diameter – Perfect size to securely hold most 30mm diameter optic tubes. 30mm is becoming standard for military-spec and high-end optics.

19 13 Picatinny Mounting Interface – Mounts directly to any picatinny rail. Includes AR platform, bolt-action rifles, and other tactical platforms.

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Rail

Clean your rail and make sure its free of any dirt or debris.

Step 2: Align the Mount

Place your Alpha MSR onto the rail, making sure the 0 MOA cant is perfectly level. You should also take this opportunity to ensure the mount is going on where you want your optic to be.

Step 3: Hand Tighten

Using the 1/2 ” nut, tighten the mount to the rail. Do not fully tighten it, just snug it up so it doesn’t move around.

Step 4: Insert the Optic

Slide your optic into the rings. Do not tighten — just make sure your height is correct.

Step 5: Eye Relief Check

Cycle your rifle several times into shooting positions and check your eye relief.

Your eye should be about 3-3.5 inches away from the optic when it is shouldered, with your full field of view visible.

Step 6: Final Rail Torque

Torque the rail bolts to 65 in/ lbs. using your torque wrench.

Step 7: Ring Torque

Torque your scope rings to 25 in/lbs. It is recommended that you alternate between front and rear rings to ensure even pressure distribution.

Step 8: Verify rigidity

Remove optic and take your optic off. When properly installed, you should feel zero flex in the mount. If you do detect movement, double-check your torque settings.

FAQ

Q: Can I use this on other rifles besides just AR platforms?

A: Yes, as long as your rifle has the 19 13 picatinny rail on top. This includes many bolt-action rifles, hunting rifles with picatinny rail fore-ends, lever gun mounting options, and other platforms with access to a standard picatinny rail.

Q: Is .30” Tube Diameter right for my optic?

A: 30mm is the standard size for military-spec and high-end optics. Virtually all modern tactical and precision optics come in 30mm diameter tubes. If you own an optic that is 1 inch or 34mm, you will need a different mount.

Q: What happens if I accidentally over-torque the bolts?

A: Cracked rings, cracked optic…don’t do it. Again, make sure you get a torque wrench and learn how to use it. If you think you’ve over-torqued your optic, take it off and inspect it for damage.

Q: Can I use this mount on my pistol?

A: The Alpha MSR is only compatible with rifle platforms that have Picatinny rails. Alpha MSR is not designed for pistol mounting solutions or other niche applications.

Q: If I upgrade my optic, can I reuse this mount?

A: As long as you’re using another 30mm scope, you can reuse this mount. You’ll need to reinstall your optic, and re-torque, but the mount itself is reusable.
