The Optic Built Specifically for the Military’s Sidearm

When the U. S. Military picked the SIG SAUER M17 and M18 to be its service pistols back in 2017, there was one glaring hole in the ecosystem. An optic. Sure, you could put pretty much any red dot on these guns… but none of them were designed specifically for them.

Enter the Romeo-OMK13481.

Built From The Ground Up For The M17

This isn’t a red dot sight you just happen to be able to mount to the M17. This is an optic engineered specifically with that gun’s requirements in mind. The difference is important. Mounting an optic to a handgun doesn’t allow for compromises - especially if you’re planning on trusting your life to that gun. The Romeo solves that by eliminating the compromise.

Military and Law Enforcement, civilians who trust SIG enough to carry their defense gun - they all appreciate what this sight brings to the table.

Why This Pistol Red Dot Is Different

When you look at most pistol-sized red dot sights, you start to notice they’re mostly compromised from the start. Companies design a red dot that can mount to multiple platforms. Sure, the P365 fits that optic. The Glock works okay. So does the Canik. But none of them are optimized.

The Romeo-OMK13481 doesn’t think like that. Made specifically for use on SIG’s P320 variant pistols, the Romeo takes advantage of the SIG-LOC mounting interface. This proprietary mount works with M17/18 pistols that have the single-screw optics plate.

Benefits of the Romeo Design

  • Built-In. With that single mounting screw and using the M17’s rear sight block, there’s no “jury rigging” this sight to the pistol. It’s where SIG designed it to be.
  • Sealed and Purged. Because this is an entirely enclosed optical system, it’s waterproof.
  • MATC Coating. All rear-facing surfaces of the optic have machined-in grooves to reduce glare — incredibly beneficial during high-contrast outdoor shooting.

The Specs That Matter

Housing: 70/75 Aluminum; integrated gas deflector

Reticle: 2 MOA dot / 32 MOA circle (independently selectable)

Brightness Settings: 15 (3 are optimized for Gen 3+ night vision use)

Battery: CR20/32; side-mounted compartment with threaded cap

Runtime: 20,000+ hours at medium brightness setting

Mounting: SIG-LOC proprietary mount (M17/M18 only)

Special Features

MOTAC (Motion Activated Illumination), MAGNETAC (Magnetic Activation), D. A. R. C. (Dark Adaptive Reticles & Coatings)

Why Romeo-M17 Helps You Shoot Better

Independent Reticle Selection. One of the coolest features on this optic is that you can toggle between the dot reticle and the circle reticle. Want both? You can do that too. This allows you to use both for maximum flexibility or to pick one that suits your shooting goals.

Recessed Buttons. The buttons to adjust brightness are recessed in a protective plate and feature raised bump marks. “Up” is on top, “Down” is on the bottom. This allows you to change brightness levels without taking your eye off the target - even with gloves on.

For accuracy’s sake, this is huge.

Power Isn’t Just A Battery-Operated Thing. Not only does the Romeo feature SMART battery management with MOTAC technology, but it also features MAGNETAC, which means you can activate the sight by simply bringing a magnet close to the housing.

Also, because of the side-mounted battery design, you never have to remove the optic to swap out batteries. This helps prevent weather/sealing degradation and means fewer hassles in the field.

Night Vision Compatible: Three of the brightness settings are night vision optimized. If you train with or carry night vision, this red dot was made with you in mind.

Common Scenarios

Duty Carry. Police and military personnel who plan on trusting the M17 with their lives. This thing is sealed tight and has been battle-tested under actual-world conditions.

Personal Defense. Competitive shooters and civilians who plan on carrying their M17 or M18 for defense. Red dots make a huge difference in your ability to acquire your target quickly and on point. Combined with the ability to co-witness iron sights, you have a backup should anything happen to your dot.

Precision. Precision shooters who want a solid 2 MOA dot for distance shooting. Fast enough for “spray and pray,” but small enough to help with deliberate shots.

Training. Training and qualification athletes who use M17/18 platforms. Same benefit for increased speed, but you also have the flexibility to toggle between dot and circle depending on your training needs.

NOTE: Romeo-OMK13481 uses SIG’s proprietary mounting platform. Currently, the only pistols it will fit are SIG SAUER M17/18 models with a single optic plate mounting screw. Romeo DOES NOT fit any other firearms.

FAQ

Q: Can I mount this to my Glock?

A: No. This optic uses SIG’s proprietary mounting platform. This means other firearms are not compatible. If you need a red dot for a non-P320 pistol, look for universal mounting options like RMSc or Picatinny rails.

Q: How long do the batteries last?

A: Set to medium brightness, you’re looking at 20,000+ hours of runtime. That’s two years of constant use if you ran this 24/7. However, most people will change their optics batteries once a year as part of regular maintenance.

Q: Is this sight Night Vision Ready?

A: Yes. Three of the brightness settings are night vision compatible. If you plan on using GEN 3+ night vision devices while training or carrying, you’ll love this feature on the Romeo.

Q: Can I co-witness Iron Sights with this sight?

A: Yes. The deck height is low enough to use along with traditional iron sights. Excellent for defensive shooters and duty.

Q: What’s MOTAC?

A: MOTAC stands for Motion Activated Technology. Basically, the optic knows when you’re shooting and when you aren’t. When you aren’t, it’ll shut off to preserve battery life.

Q: Will this one keep water out?

A: The Romeo features a fully enclosed, sealed, and purged optical system - you’ll never have to worry about water or debris entering the optic itself.

The dot is clear, very low profile. Looks great on my duty pistol. Add in the sig sauer foxtrot 2r light and some talon grips makes for a really great pistol.
