Your riflescope is likely the largest investment you’ll make for your rifle. Between $400 and $2,000+ doesn’t come cheap. But then, many people let their objective lenses hang unprotected and exposed to the elements, damage, dust, and more.

• Cosmetic Damage – Whether it’s during transport or just being goofy with your rifle, exposed glass is susceptible to nicks and scratches.

• Lens Cleaning – As soon as you get a fine layer of dust on your lens, it’s harder to see. You lose light transmission. If the scratches are bad enough, they’ll degrade image quality. Do you really want to spend the time and money cleaning your lenses? Pro cleaning can be expensive. 
• Temperature – Beyond sudden temperature changes mentioned above; extreme temperatures can damage your scope’s inner workings.

To shoot, simply flip the lens covers open. These covers rotate, so you can flip them open in any direction that you prefer. Once open, they magnetically cling to the side of your scope out of your sight picture. When you’re done shooting, flip them closed. 

You never need to remove these from your scope unless you’re cleaning your lenses.

Q: Are these covers universal? 

No. The 40mm Alumina covers are made to fit Leupold Riflescopes. Matched to Leupold thread standards on the objective and eyepiece. Only use thread-matched lens covers on your scopes.

Q: How long do lens covers last? 

Once properly installed, these things will last a long time.

Q: Will these stay closed if I’m hiking through heavy brush?

Yes. The magnets are very strong.

Q: Can I shoot with the lens covers on?

Technically, Yes. They will stay open and to the side of your scope while you shoot, so your sight picture won’t be obstructed. It’s not recommended to shoot with the lens covers on, as you’ll have to remove them prior to zeroing your scope. Take the extra second and flip them open.
