The Avid X Spinning Rods represent a new direction for St. Croix's popular Avid Series of fishing rods. This new series, dubbed Avid X, displays a more radical design with updated features and original stylings. St. Croix Rods developed this new series with high quality components and the same high modulus graphite SCIII graphite blanks with Integrated Poly Curve tooling technology used for their standard Avid lines. The result is a series of incredibly sensitive and light weight spinning rods. Each Avid X Spinning Rod features a lightweight, select grade cork split-grip handle, Fuji reel seats with gunsmoke hoods and an exclusive new hook-keeper designed to hold a variety of different hooks and lures while eliminating line wrapping issues.

St. Croix turned to Kigan Z micro-guides to reduce weight and focus casting energy in a more direct plane allowing for increased casting distance and accuracy. Z guides feature zirconia rings with gunsmoke frames and are positioned at the optimal height to make sure the line flows through the guides properly. The Avid X Series guides are expertly wrapped with nylon thread and then sealed with two coats of Flex Coat slow-cure finish.
